Catedrala Sf. Alexander Nevsky

“the cornerstone of the cathedral wasn’t laid until 1882, and most of the structure was built between 1904 and 1912. The cathedral was created in honour of the Russian soldiers who died during the Russian-Turkish War of 1877-1878, after which Bulgaria was liberated from Ottoman rule. Its name comes from Alexander Nevsky, who was a Russian prince. (Between 1916 and 1920, when Russia and Bulgaria belonged to opposing alliances in WWI, the cathedral’s name was changed to Saints Cyril and Methodius.)”
